Computer Technician

**Job Title**: Computer Technician (Hardware & Software Support - Office Only)

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Hardware Support**:

- Perform regular diagnostics and repairs on office desktop PCs, laptops, and peripheral devices (e.g., printers, scanners, monitors).
- Upgrade, replace, and install internal hardware components such as memory, hard drives, processors, and power supplies.
- Assemble and set up new office computers and laptops, ensuring proper configuration and connectivity.
- **Software Support**:

- Install, configure, and troubleshoot operating systems (Windows, macOS) and essential office software.
- Ensure timely software updates and security patches are applied to all office devices.
- **Network and Connectivity**:

- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with network connectivity, both wired and wireless.
- Assist with the setup and maintenance of local area networks (LANs) and ensure devices are properly connected to printers, file servers, and shared drives.
- **System Maintenance**:

- Perform routine maintenance tasks including data backups, system scans, and disk cleanups.
- Manage antivirus software installation, updates, and scans to ensure all office devices are secure.
- Assist with data recovery and restoration in case of system failures or data loss.
- **User Support**:

- Provide in-office technical support to staff members for troubleshooting computer issues, software problems, and device performance.
- Guide staff on best practices for using software, hardware, and network resources efficiently.
- Document all troubleshooting steps and resolutions to build an internal knowledge base for future reference.
- **Inventory and Asset Management**:

- Maintain an inventory of all office hardware and software, including warranty status and repair records.
- Assist with ordering replacement parts, peripherals, and new equipment as needed.

**Qualifications**:

- **Education**:

- A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
- Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), or similar are advantageous.
- **Experience**:

- Minimum 1 year of experience in troubleshooting and supporting both hardware and software for desktops, laptops, and peripherals.
- Familiarity with a variety of operating systems, including Windows and macOS.
- Prior experience in a corporate office environment is a plus.
- **Technical Skills**:

- Strong understanding of computer hardware components and the ability to troubleshoot and repair them effectively.
- Proficient in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting operating systems (Windows, macOS).
- Knowledge of networking concepts and troubleshooting network issues.
- Experience with antivirus software and maintaining system security.
- **Soft Skills**:

- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills to explain technical issues and solutions to non-technical staff.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure to resolve urgent issues.
- Team player with the ability to work independently in an office environment.
