**Responsibilities**:

- **Manage VFX Integration**: Oversee the seamless integration of all visual effects (VFX) shots into the edited footage. This involves incorporating storyboards, animatics, pre-vis/post-vis elements, and live-action scenes.
- **Work with VFX Teams**: Collaborate closely with VFX artists, supervisors, and studios to ensure the VFX shots meet the director's vision, adhere to technical requirements, and maintain narrative continuity.
- **Maintain Shot Lists and Versions**: Track and manage VFX shot versions, including current iterations, notes, and deadlines. They may utilize databases or software to organize this information.
- **Prepare Dailies and Edits**: Assemble VFX elements with live-action footage to create daily edits and presentations for director and client review.
- **Identify Issues and Flaws**: Alert the VFX team of any inconsistencies, errors, or continuity issues within the VFX shots.
- **Manage Deadlines and Workflows**: Ensure that VFX shots are delivered on time and within budget, maintaining efficient communication with all stakeholders involved.
- **Technical Skills**: Proficiency in video editing software like Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere Pro, or Final Cut Pro. Working knowledge of VFX software or pipelines might be beneficial depending on the role.
- **Communication and Collaboration**: Maintain clear and consistent communication with editors, directors, VFX teams, and production personnel.
- **Attention to Detail**: Possess a keen eye for detail to ensure seamless integration of VFX elements and consistency within the edit.

**Work Environment**:

- VFX Editors typically work in post-production houses, film studios, or freelance from home offices.
- The work can be fast-paced and require meeting tight deadlines.
- Collaboration and clear communication are essential for success.

**Types of VFX Editors**:

- **Client-side VFX Editor**: Works on set or directly with the film or TV production company, ensuring live-action footage is captured appropriately for VFX integration.
- **In-house VFX Editor**: Employed by a VFX studio, collaborating with the VFX team to incorporate their work into the edit.

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- Strong understanding of filmmaking principles and storytelling techniques.
- Excellent editorial skills with experience in non-linear editing software.
- Familiarity with the VFX production pipeline is a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills and time management abilities.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a keen eye for visual aesthetics.
