A **School Dance Teacher** is responsible for teaching dance in educational settings, ranging from elementary to high school levels. The role combines both artistic instruction and educational responsibilities, with a focus on fostering students' physical, creative, and artistic development through dance.

Key Responsibilities:

- **Teaching Dance**: Plan and deliver dance lessons across various styles (e.g., ballet, contemporary, jazz, hip-hop, or cultural dance forms) to students of different age groups and skill levels.
- **Curriculum Development**: Develop age-appropriate lesson plans that incorporate basic to advanced dance techniques, choreography, and performance preparation. Adapt lessons to meet individual student needs.
- **Classroom Management**: Maintain a positive, safe, and productive classroom environment. Manage students' behavior, ensuring all students can participate in dance activities.
- **Skill Development**: Teach fundamental skills such as posture, coordination, rhythm, and flexibility. Guide students in developing technical proficiency and artistic expression.
- **Performance Preparation**: Organize and prepare students for dance recitals, competitions, or school performances, including choreography, rehearsals, and staging.
- **Assessing Student Progress**: Evaluate student performance, provide feedback, and offer guidance to help students improve their skills. Maintain records of individual progress and achievements.
- **Collaboration with Staff**: Work with other teachers and school staff to support students’ overall development. May participate in interdisciplinary projects or school-wide events.
- **Encouraging Creativity**: Inspire students to express themselves through dance, encouraging creativity, teamwork, and self-confidence.
- **Safety and Health Awareness**: Ensure proper warm-up and cool-down routines are followed, and emphasize injury prevention and overall fitness.
- **Parental Communication**: Communicate with parents or guardians regarding their child’s progress, upcoming performances, and any issues that arise.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

- **Education**: A degree in Dance Education, Performing Arts, or a related field is typically required. Certification in teaching may also be necessary, depending on the institution.
- **Experience**: Previous experience teaching dance at a school or similar educational setting is often preferred.
- **Dance Expertise**: Proficiency in various dance styles and techniques. Strong background in performance and choreography.
- **Communication Skills**: Ability to effectively communicate with students, parents, and colleagues.
- **Creativity**: Strong creative ability to design engaging and diverse lessons and performances.
- **Organization and Time Management**: Ability to manage multiple tasks, including class planning, rehearsals, and grading, while meeting deadlines.
