Position: Primary (Grades 1-5) Physical Education Teacher

**Location**: St John Universal School, Goregaon, Mumbai
**Employment Type**: Full-Time, In-Person

Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

Based on industry-standard PE teacher roles:

- Teach a variety of physical activities, including basic sports, games, aerobic exercises, and movement skills
- Promote teamwork, fair play, confidence, and sportsmanship among students
- Monitor, assess, and record student performance and physical development
- Ensure a safe learning environment—teach safety rules, supervise play, and manage emergency responses
- Set up, manage, and maintain all PE equipment and facilities
- Collaborate with other teachers and the school leadership to integrate PE with broader educational goals
- Organize and supervise intra-school events, contests, and extracurricular sports activities
- Communicate with parents/guardians about student progress, behavior, and fitness goals
- Attend staff meetings, professional development workshops, and school-wide events as required

Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or Education (Master’s preferred) j
- Valid teaching certification for physical education, or willingness to obtain one
- Certification in CPR and First Aid
- Prior experience teaching or coaching children ages 6-11 (coaching experience is a plus)
- Deep understanding of child development, fitness principles, and pedagogical methods
- Excellent classroom and playground management skills
- Strong communication, organizational, and motivational skills
- Physical fitness and stamina to actively demonstrate and lead exercises
- Ability to plan inclusive lessons, adapt for varied abilities, and foster a safe environment
