- **Roles & Responsibilities**- 1 Coordinate with engineering department heads and designer personnel to support overall scope and schedule of BIM/VDC activities to be performed on assigned projects - Support BIM Execution Plan (BEP), Coordinate with VDC Manager and project production and management team(s)
- 2 Obtain equipment, infrastructure, design models and other electronic documents from the design team, vendors, client, and other 3rd parties; coordinate proper file protocols on Autodesk Construction Cloud with the design team, support vendors and subcontractors; perform site visits as necessary and collect data required to perform modeling tasks
- 3 Lead/facilitate project model coordination meetings with design team, subcontractors, client, and support vendors; perform clash detection between the design model and fabrication models in order to resolve conflicts prior to purchase / IFC / fabrication / installation
- 4 Support engineering teams and projects in development of native authoring tools (Revit / AutoCad / Tekla) scripts / macros / reports / etc.
- 5 Perform clash detection and interface of various Project design disciplines during preconstruction to assist the design team’s quality control efforts and to ensure the constructability of projects during design; assist with ensuring a accurate and complete transition from design to preconstruction through construction to operations
- 6 Proactively become familiar with general project scope to identify safety concerns (OSHA), model conflicts, design discrepancies, or other risk factors and review with operations and management personnel
- 7 Ensure that communication and proper documentation is maintained with Engineering departments, 3rd parties, and VDC Manager in regard to all BIM / VDC issues for their particular projects
- 8 Participate in project kick off meetings, design review meetings, preconstruction meetings, and operations/project meetings when BIM / VDC related review sessions / meetings, as required
- 9 Prepare BIM / VDC Action Items List for assigned projects and review with VDC manager; achieve scheduled completion of assigned tasks to meet project requirements; assist in ensuring that others’ assignments are coordinated and met
- 10 Perform, audit, and / or manage distribution of electronic documents for modeling activities, organize and maintain a complete inventory of electronic BIM / VDC documents for all projects, ensure measures are in place to monitor, validate, verify, and track design changes / version control
- 11 Ensure questions regarding projects and model information are properly documented and addressed to the design team.
- 12 Support the creation, development and ongoing maintenance of BIM / VDC models, conversion of 2D plans or PDF’s to 3D models, scan-to-BIM for projects, create conceptual models based on similar projects and historical cost information
- 13 Conduct detailed model reviews to meet quality control expectations in regard to model accuracy and completeness.
- 14 When necessary, develop models for demonstration of site staging and logistics plans, construction phasing, project sequencing and scheduling
- 15 Prepare still images or live animations and show viewpoints or perspectives of building for demonstration of project requirements
- 16 Assist Engineering operations personnel in the utilization of BIM / VDC for visualization, coordination, and constructability and prepare models to effectively convey cost management alternatives, when appropriate
- 17 Assist Engineering personnel with quantity extraction and ensure the preparation of clear, properly formatted material takeoff schedules from the building model
- 18 Develop animated construction timelines within the building model to demonstrate 4D scheduling / sequencing / phasing simulation
- 19 Follow and define ESI modeling guidelines and policies in regard to assigned tasks, assist VDC Manager in the development of BIM / VDC policies and procedures, templates and standards, as well as in researching, evaluating and implementing new BIM / VDC technologies
- 20 Establish credibility and confidence with clients, design teams, subcontractors and internal team members through effective use of BIM / VDC technology
- 21 Strive to attain 100% Customer Satisfaction for all BIM / VDC projects, as well as internal satisfaction with engineering operations and management
- 22 Participate in training opportunities, continuing education, as well as outside BIM / VDC user groups and conferences
- 23 Participate actively in promoting the understanding, acceptance, and utilization of BIM / VDC, while acknowledging industry standards and internal feedback-
