Are you interested in reducing waste in Amazon’s supply chain? If packaging waste makes you cringe, then this is the place for you. As part of the Internal Testing Lab (ITL) team, this position is primarily responsible for testing packages in accordance with documented laboratory processes that simulate the Amazon fulfillment network. They are also responsible for reviewing internal FC reports to understand the focus area from other labs, recording test results, and communicating with both internal and external stakeholders regarding testing. These tests help Amazon validate when a product can be safely shipped without the need for additional packaging.

Key job responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

- Maintain and promote safety within the Lab
- Regular lab cleaning, preventative maintenance, and 5S
- Conduct both in-person and virtual packaging testing.
- Record, process, and compile data accurately to identify outliers, find trends, summarize results, and recommend next step.
- Review 3rd-party test reports, demonstrating high attention to detail.
- Independently execute detailed tasks, operations, and procedures.
- Execute both routine and newly-developed methods and procedures to obtain valid results.
- Communicate with vendors and internal customers in a timely and concise manner
- Ensure robustness of test methods and equipment and supplies are available and in proper working order for assigned projects and testing areas.
- Handling consolidation activities of the site to ensure the inventory is in its best place which will include daily planning and monitoring on compliance consolidation, space creation consolidation, same ASIN consolidation and other priority consolidation as per weekly consolidation plan in alignment with inbound team.

A day in the life

Daily routine:

- Reporting the vehicle arrival on dock to Internal Testing Lab.
- Pulling sample as per AQL. (Sampling Plan)
- Pasting "Material Under Testing" tag on all pallet
- Material movement with "MUT" tag to procurement area
- Sample testing at lab against standard
- Update results on central QMS dashboard.
- Changing pallet tag basis results "Pass" or "Fail"
- "Fail" lot needs to be sent back to vendor.
- Arranging replacement lot to feed operation
- Asking for RCA/CAPA from vendor
- Verification & Validation of RCA/CAPA from vendor
- Work with procurement to change supplier in case of consistent supplies with packaging not meeting spec
- Sending material from individual FC's to ITL with record of lot number.
- Label biweekly sample from FC's with date and lot number
- Upload test result in central QMS dashboard
- Sharing weekly QMS dashboard with stakeholders/leaders
- Automated dashboard should be a part of FC 4X4
- Breakdown of equipment - CAPA with machine supplier
- Good knowledge of unit of measurements and conversion - eg. Kgf to KN/m etc
- Attending standup meetings and SOS meeting of consolidation team and share SOS plan.
- Monitor daily consolidation activity as per plan and to ensure performance of consolidation stowers and pickers as per the expected productivity.
- Mail updates on adherence of daily and weekly consolidation as per the aligned plan with inbound team.
