Gis Technician

The GIS Technician will assist in the development, implementation, maintenance and use of GIS technology to the Engineering department by performing the following essential job duties:

- Participates in the development, implementation, maintenance and use of the GIS system
- Assist in data organization and management, digitize and maintain spatial databases; document procedures, validate data for accuracy and completeness, complete approved metadata forms and produce maps of the resulting information;
- Participates in the preparation, digitizing and editing of standard map requests as required
- Maintains quality control for information entered into the GIS system and for existing map products

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong problem-solving, organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
- Have excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal departmental pressures
- Must have the ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision
- Must have knowledge of various analysis tools on ArcGIS/QGIS
- Knowledge of Various GIS data conversion tools

Education: Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Engineering, Urban Planning, Computer Science or a related field

**Experience**:

- One year of relevant prior experience; Experience with GIS software, including ESRI’s ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Pro
- GIS, Mapping experience
