Garment Technologist

A Garment Technologist ensures garments are manufactured efficiently, within budget, and to quality standards, working closely with designers, factories, and other teams.
- They oversee fabric selection, construction methods, and the entire development process, from initial ideas to production. They also analyze product returns, respond to customer queries, and contribute to quality control.
- Key Responsibilities:

- Material Selection & Costing: Selecting appropriate fabrics and materials, ensuring they meet design requirements and budget constraints.
- Design Modification & Production: Working with designers to modify models, suggesting changes to pattern designs, and ensuring garments are produced efficiently.
- Sample Fitting & Quality Control: Overseeing fabric testing and first sample fittings, ensuring garment construction methods are correct, and producing quality control reports.
- Problem Solving & Analysis: Analyzing product returns and faults, responding to customer queries, and troubleshooting production issues.
- Budget Management: Ensuring garments can be produced within budget and managing cost analysis and control systems.
- Communication & Collaboration: Working closely with designers, pattern cutters, and factory personnel to ensure seamless communication and collaboration throughout the production process.
- Risk Assessment: Assessing product safety and ensuring adherence to relevant standards and regulations.
- Additional Skills: Knowledge of garment construction: Understanding different garment construction techniques and methods.
- Technical skills: Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and drawings.
- Communication skills: Ability to communicate effectively with various teams and stakeholders.
- Problem-solving skills: Ability to identify and resolve issues related to garment production.
- Organizational skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
