**Job Title: Safety Officer**

**Location**: Jajpur, Odisha

**Reporting To**: Factory Manager
**Employment Type**: Full-Time

**Job Purpose**:
To ensure compliance with statutory safety regulations and implementation of effective safety systems at the steel plant site in Odisha. The Safety Officer will be responsible for identifying risks, enforcing safety measures, conducting training, and promoting a safe working environment for all employees and contractors.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**1. Compliance & Legal Adherence**
- Ensure adherence to **The Factories Act, 1948**, **Odisha Factory Rules**, and other applicable safety legislation.
- Liaise with local authorities (DISH, Odisha Pollution Control Board) during inspections and audits.
- Maintain statutory registers and documentation as per Odisha State safety norms.

**2. Site Safety Management**
- Conduct daily safety inspections across various plant sections (blast furnace, rolling mill, power plant, etc.).
- Monitor high-risk activities such as hot work, confined space entry, crane operations, and working at height.
- Enforce mandatory use of PPE and safe work practices.

**3. Risk Assessment & Control**
- Perform Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and HIRA for new and ongoing operations.
- Identify unsafe acts/conditions and implement corrective/preventive measures.
- Participate in safety walks, safety committee meetings, and tool-box talks.

**4. Incident Reporting & Investigation**
- Record and investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
- Prepare Root Cause Analysis (RCA) reports and share lessons learned.
- Assist in the implementation of incident corrective actions.

**5. Training & Safety Awareness**
- Conduct safety induction for new joiners and contractors in **Odia/Hindi/English** as needed.
- Organize regular safety drills - fire, emergency evacuation, mock drills.
- Promote safety culture through awareness campaigns, banners, posters, and competitions.

**6. Work Permit System**
- Ensure strict compliance with the Work Permit System (Hot Work, Confined Space, Electrical Isolation, etc.).
- Validate safety conditions before permit approval and monitor execution of work.

**7. Emergency Preparedness**
- Maintain and inspect emergency response equipment - fire extinguishers, first-aid kits, hydrants, etc.
- Support in forming on-site emergency response teams.

**Qualifications & Experience**:

- **Education**:

- Degree/Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial preferred).
- Mandatory**:Diploma in Industrial Safety** from a recognized institute (preferably approved by DGFASLI or State Government).
- **Experience**:

- Minimum **3-7 years** in safety operations at heavy industries or steel plants.
- Experience in Odisha or eastern region-based industrial sites preferred.
- **Language Proficiency**:

- Must be able to communicate effectively in **Odia**, **Hindi**, and **English**.

**Skills Required**:

- Strong knowledge of steel plant operations and hazards (e.g., molten metal, high temperatures, mechanical handling).
- Practical knowledge of **ISO 45001**, **EMS**, **NEBOSH IGC** (preferred).
- Good interpersonal and communication skills with a proactive safety attitude.
- Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.

**Certifications (preferred)**:

- NEBOSH IGC / IOSH
- Fire Safety / First Aid Certification
- Behaviour-Based Safety (BBS) Training

**Work Environment**:

- Industrial outdoor and indoor plant areas with exposure to heat, noise, dust, and heavy machinery.
- Rotational shifts or extended hours during shutdowns and commissioning activities.

Pay: From ₹30,000.00 per month
