As a Student Counselor, your main objective is to provide guidance and support to students in their academic and personal development. You will play a critical role in helping students overcome challenges, make informed decisions, and achieve their educational goals. Your responsibilities will involve counseling students individually or in groups, collaborating with teachers and parents, and promoting a positive and supportive learning environment.
**Responsibilities**:
Student Counseling: Provide confidential counseling services to students, addressing their academic, personal, and emotional concerns. Conduct individual counseling sessions to help students manage stress, improve study habits, set goals, and make well-informed decisions related to their education.
**Academic Support**: Collaborate with teachers to identify students who may need academic support or intervention. Develop strategies to improve students' academic performance, such as study skills workshops, time management techniques, and test-taking strategies. Monitor student progress and provide ongoing support and guidance.
**Crisis Intervention**: Respond to and manage crisis situations involving students, such as emotional distress, academic difficulties, or behavioral issues. Provide immediate support, assess the situation, and refer students to appropriate resources or professionals when necessary.
**Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)**: Participate in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans for students with special needs or learning challenges. Collaborate with teachers, parents, and special education professionals to ensure the provision of appropriate support and accommodations.
**Educational Workshops and Presentations**: Conduct workshops and presentations for students, parents, and teachers on topics such as study skills, stress management, career exploration, and college readiness. Develop educational materials and resources to support these workshops.
**Record Keeping and Documentation**:Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions, assessments, and interventions. Prepare reports and documentation as required by school policies or legal obligations.
**Requirements**:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, or a related field (required)
- Relevant experience in counseling or working with students (preferred)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Empathy and the ability to establish rapport with students
- Knowledge of counseling theories, techniques, and ethics
- Familiarity with academic and career guidance resources
- Understanding of student development and learning styles
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency in using counseling software or student information systems
**Salary**: ₹20,000.00 - ₹100,000.00 per month
