**Job Summary**: The Quality Control Specialist specializing in High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) within Herbal Manufacturing plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality and purity of herbal products. This role specifically focuses on utilizing HPLC techniques for the analysis of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products. The specialist is responsible for operating and maintaining HPLC equipment, conducting analytical tests, interpreting results, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to maintain high-quality standards in compliance with regulatory requirements.

**Responsibilities**:

- **
HPLC Analysis**: Perform routine HPLC analysis of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products to determine the concentration of active compounds, identify impurities, and ensure compliance with specifications.
- **
Method Development**: Develop and validate HPLC methods for the analysis of herbal extracts, active ingredients, and finished products. Optimize parameters such as column selection, mobile phase composition, and detection wavelength.
- **
Instrument Maintenance**: Operate and maintain HPLC instrumentation, ensuring proper calibration, troubleshooting any issues, and performing routine maintenance tasks to ensure accurate and reliable results.
- **
Data Interpretation**: Analyze HPLC data and interpret chromatograms to identify peaks, quantify analytes, and assess sample purity. Document results accurately and maintain detailed records of analytical testing.
- **
Quality Control Procedures**: Implement and enforce quality control procedures related to HPLC analysis, ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), FDA regulations, and other relevant guidelines.
- **
Collaboration**: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance, to address quality issues, investigate root causes, and implement corrective actions to maintain product quality standards.
- **
Training**: Provide training to laboratory personnel on HPLC operation, method validation, data analysis, and adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure proficiency and compliance with quality standards.
- **
Continuous Improvement**: Identify opportunities for process improvements in HPLC analysis methods, instrumentation, and laboratory practices. Implement changes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and reliability of analytical testing.
- **
Regulatory Compliance**: Stay updated on regulatory requirements and industry standards relevant to HPLC analysis of herbal products. Ensure adherence to regulatory guidelines and participate in audits as needed.
- **
Safety**: Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and procedures, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials, to maintain a safe working environment.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Previous experience in a pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, or herbal manufacturing environment with a focus on HPLC analysis.
- Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting HPLC instrumentation, including experience with various detectors (UV-Vis, DAD, RID).
- Strong understanding of chromatographic principles, method development, and validation protocols.
- Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and regulatory requirements (FDA, ICH) applicable to analytical testing.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage workload efficiently, and adapt to changing priorities.
- Familiarity with herbal extracts, botanical, and natural products is a plus.
