- **Food technologist**: Responsible for the safe and efficient development, production, and modification of food products. This includes generating new product ideas, improving existing recipes, and designing processes and machinery for large-scale production.
- **Quality assurance manager**: Ensures that food products are safe and meet quality standards. This may involve inspecting raw materials, finished goods, and packaging.
- **Production manager**: Manages the manufacturing process in a food manufacturing facility.
- **Research scientist**: Conducts research to innovate and improve food products and processes.
- **Regulatory affairs specialist**: Ensures compliance with all relevant food safety laws and regulations.

Other responsibilities of food processing professionals may include:

- Selecting raw materials and other ingredients from suppliers
- Preparing product costings
- Auditing suppliers or managing internal audits
- Running trials of new products
- Coordinating launches of new products
- Dealing with customer complaint investigations or product issues
- Compiling, checking, and approving product specifications
- Working on packaging innovation and technology.
