**Responsibilities**:
- **Greeting and Seating Guests**:
- Welcome guests in a friendly and courteous manner as they enter the dining area.
- Escort guests to their tables and present menus.
- Inform guests of daily specials, new menu items, or promotions.
- **Taking Orders**:
- Take food and drink orders accurately from guests, ensuring clarity and attention to special dietary requirements or preferences.
- Suggest menu items based on customer preferences, offering recommendations for food pairings or drinks.
- Input orders into the point-of-sale (POS) system, ensuring accuracy.
- **Serving Food and Beverages**:
- Deliver food and drinks to guests promptly and with attention to presentation.
- Serve meals and beverages in accordance with the restaurant’s service standards.
- Ensure that guests have everything they need during their meal, including refilling drinks and offering condiments.
- **Customer Service**:
- Monitor guest satisfaction throughout their dining experience and address any concerns or requests promptly.
- Ensure guests are comfortable and enjoy their meal, offering assistance as needed.
- Respond politely to customer complaints, resolve issues professionally, and escalate to a manager when necessary.
- **Cleaning and Setting Tables**:
- Set tables before guests arrive, ensuring proper placement of utensils, glasses, napkins, and condiments.
- Clear and clean tables after guests leave, resetting them for the next group.
- Ensure dining areas are tidy and well-organized at all times.
- **Collaborating with Kitchen and Bar Staff**:
- Communicate customer orders to kitchen staff and ensure timely preparation of meals.
- Coordinate with bartenders to serve drinks and deliver them to the correct table.
- Ensure that orders are fulfilled accurately and according to guest preferences.
- **Handling Payments**:
- Present bills to customers and process payments (cash, credit card, etc.).
- Ensure that all transactions are accurately processed and provide receipts as needed.
- Handle tips or gratuities according to the restaurant's policies.
- **Promoting Menu Items**:
- Upsell or suggest menu items such as specials, appetizers, or desserts to increase sales.
- Provide information about the restaurant's menu, ingredients, and preparation methods.
- **Adhering to Health and Safety Standards**:
- Follow all food safety and hygiene protocols, including proper handling of food and beverages.
- Ensure cleanliness of work areas and comply with sanitation guidelines.
- **Maintaining a Professional Appearance**:
- Maintain a clean, neat, and professional appearance, adhering to the restaurant's uniform or dress code.
- Present a positive and approachable demeanor while interacting with customers and colleagues.
**Skills and Qualifications**:
- **Education**: A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required. Additional training or certifications in food safety or hospitality are a plus.
- **Experience**: Previous experience as a waiter or in a customer service role is preferred but not always required.
