Job Title: Purchase Manager (Construction)
Location: Mumbai
**Job Type**: Full-Time
Reports To : Reporting Manager
Job Summary:
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement Management:
Identify and source suppliers of construction materials, equipment, and services based on project requirements.
Negotiate prices, terms, and delivery schedules to achieve the best value for the company.
Prepare and issue purchase orders, track deliveries, and ensure timely procurement to avoid project delays.
Manage and oversee inventory levels to ensure stock is maintained as per project timelines.
Vendor and Supplier Relations:
Establish and maintain strong working relationships with reliable suppliers and subcontractors.
Monitor and evaluate supplier performance to ensure compliance with contract terms, quality standards, and delivery schedules.
Resolve any issues related to quality, delivery, or invoicing in a timely manner.
Cost Control & Budgeting:
Work closely with the finance and project management teams to establish and monitor procurement budgets.
Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or safety standards.
Track and report procurement costs and savings for each project.
Project Coordination:
Collaborate with project managers and engineers to determine material and equipment needs.
Ensure that the right materials are delivered at the right time to meet construction schedules.
Troubleshoot and solve procurement-related issues during project execution.
Market Research & Trend Analysis:
Stay up to date with market trends, new products, and technologies that can enhance the efficiency and quality of construction projects.
Conduct research on new suppliers, materials, and innovative procurement practices.
Compliance & Documentation:
Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards.
Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, contracts, supplier agreements, and invoices for audit and reporting purposes.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Civil Engineering, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Proven experience (5+ years) as a Purchase Manager or Procurement Manager in the construction industry.
In-depth knowledge of construction materials, tools, equipment, and services.
Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
Familiarity with procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Desired Skills:
Knowledge of construction industry regulations and compliance standards.
Familiarity with construction project management software (e.g., Procore, Builder trend).
Experience with contract management and legal aspects of procurement.
