**Reports To**: Managing Editor or Editor-in-Chief

**Job Summary**:
**Key Responsibilities**:

- Plan, assign, and edit news stories across multiple platforms (print, digital, broadcast, or social media).
- Work closely with reporters to develop story ideas and guide reporting.
- Ensure accuracy, clarity, balance, and adherence to journalistic ethics in all published content.
- Write compelling headlines, leads, and blurbs.
- Collaborate with other editorial and production team members to meet publication deadlines.
- Monitor news wires, social media, and competitors to identify breaking news and emerging trends.
- Fact-check stories and enforce quality control standards.
- Manage newsroom workflow and assist in crisis or breaking news situations.
- Stay current with industry best practices, technology, and tools.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or related field.
- Experience (0-1+ years) in news editing or journalism.
- Strong news judgement and a keen understanding of current events.
- Excellent editing, writing, and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in content management systems and newsroom tools.
- Familiarity with AP style or other relevant editorial guidelines.
- Leadership and team management experience is a plus.

**Preferred Skills**:

- Experience with SEO best practices.
- Multimedia editing skills (photo, video, audio) are a plus.
- Knowledge of legal issues affecting journalism, such as libel and copyright.
