**About this role**

BT is building a world class Data & AI function within it’s Global & Digital businesses as part of its strategy to put data and actionable insight at the heart of everything it does and deliver on its Digital Transformation Programme to enhance the experience of its customers. This is key to delivering next generation products and key business processes across Sales & Marketing, Service Delivery and Service Assurance. Looking ahead we want to harness data and exploit specifically AI/ML technologies; we want people in the company and our customers to self-serve, make our operations smarter and create ‘best in class’ data driven innovative products our customer will love. For example, predicting service impacting incidents before they occur using network telemetry data, identifying jeopardy in delivery plans based on historical events, or personalising upsell opportunities by harnessing a 360-degree view of the customer, up to leveraging IoT to support big initiatives such as ‘smart cities.

For the Data & AI function to be successful in driving and unlocking value through innovation and thought leadership via the use of Data & AI it needs strong partnerships with business stakeholders.

**You'll have the following responsibilities**

The scope for a Scrum Master Specialist is medium to large in size and complexity for a product/service/initiative roadmap.

Planning & Alignment

Coordinates a diverse team to deliver technical initiatives which enable benefits for customers, aligned to the portfolio strategy.
- Partners with a range of internal and external stakeholders to align on planned initiatives, resolve issues and bottlenecks and achieve collective benefits.
- Partners with, coaches and supports the Product Owner in managing the backlog to ensure it is properly prioritized and appropriately sized.
- Facilitates all Scrum ceremonies (e.g. backlog grooming, planning meetings, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, demos/showcases).
- Optimises team allocation and resourcing by guiding the team on how to get the most of out of self-organization.

Team Engagement & Performance
- Identifies and implements ways to improve team, process and service performance and suggests and implements changes to how the team operates.
- Acts as a team-based servant leader in service to the team’s needs.
- Fosters team engagement by building a safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of retribution.
- Coaches the team on Agile principles, methods and practices, in alignment with Agile Coaches to understand maturity models and coaching strategies.
- Executes capability uplift and training, in alignment with Agile Coaches and the organization at large.
- Champions Agile and contributes best practices to our internal community as well as external Agile communities.

Delivery & Measurement
- Leverages technical expertise to deliver initiatives, from definition to implementation, in order to achieve customer outcomes aligned to strategy.
- Identifies opportunities to resolve risks and issues relating to delivery and any impacts on related components or teams.
- Helps the team to focus on delivery of high quality stories on a predictable, sustainable cadence.
- Focuses on outcomes and achieving benefits (e.g. high product quality, high customer satisfaction, reduced risks, improved project controls, faster ROI).
- Promotes continuous improvement by tracking and communicating Agile metrics to team, management and any impacted stakeholders (e.g. team velocity and sprint progress/burn down chart).
- Escalates risks, roadblocks and cross-team dependencies that are unresolvable by the team.

- Driving Engagement: Demonstrated experience fostering and empowering high performing teams.
- Agile Frameworks: Demonstrated understanding of the principles, components and features of Agile frameworks, with a continuous learning approach to new concepts and best practices.
- Coaching: Demonstrated experience of coaching, with a strong servant leadership philosophy.
- SDLC: Demonstrated understanding of the software development lifecycle and technical change delivery.
- Facilitation: Excellent facilitator, with the ability to communicate and adapt your style based on the situation/ context.
