**Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon**

**Job Responsibility**

Ø Being open to new ideas and keeping abreast of the latest advancements in the field of oral maxillofacial surgery

Ø Reviewing patients' medical history and discussing their symptoms and concerns.

Ø Utilizing dental instruments and x-ray equipment to determine the cause of patients' oral pain and discomfort.

Ø Formulating suitable treatment plans based on the diagnosed dental condition.

Ø Completing a comprehensive diagnosis, treatment, and progress notes on each patient and diagnosing various oral and facial conditions, including impacted teeth, facial trauma, jaw misalignment, tumors, cysts, and other oral diseases. They evaluate patients' medical histories, conduct physical examinations, and order diagnostic radiological investigation tests such as X-rays, CBCT ,CT scans, or MRIs to create an accurate treatment plan.

Ø Assessing whether surgical treatment is required, and determining the duration of treatment required for successful treatment outcomes

Ø Performing treatment with precision, and ensuring proper postoperative instructions. Pre surgical medical investigation and pre surgical medications to be assessed case wise.

Ø Demonstrating proficiency in microscopic dentistry techniques

Ø Being an expert in surgical procedures:

- Extraction of impacted or damaged teeth, including wisdom teeth removal.
- Dental implant placement to replace missing teeth.
- Corrective jaw surgery (orthognathic surgery) to address jaw misalignment or facial asymmetry and cleft management
- Treatment of facial trauma or fractures resulting from accidents or injuries.
- Removal of benign or malignant tumors and cysts in the jaw or facial area.
- Oro antral fistula management

Ø To have sound training to administer various forms of anesthesia, including local anesthesia, sedation to ensure patient comfort and safety during surgical procedures.

Ø After surgery, oral surgeons provide post-operative care instructions to patients and may prescribe medications to manage pain and aid in the healing process. They also conduct follow-up appointments to monitor progress and address any concerns.

Ø Research and continuing program keeping up to date with recent developments and approaches.

Ø Having a sound knowledge of materials and instruments required in surgical procedures

Ø Keeping up-to-date with the latest techniques and technologies used in oral surgery
