**Job Description - Security Manager (Copper Mines)**

**Location**: Lubumbashi, DRC, Africa **Industry**: Copper & Cobalt Mining
**Employment Type**: Full-time

**Job Overview**

**Key Responsibilities**

**Security Strategy & Operations**
- Develop and implement security policies, procedures, and emergency response plans.
- Coordinate with management to assess risks and ensure a secure environment.
- Supervise all security operations, including patrols, checkpoints, and surveillance monitoring.

**Team Management & Training**
- Lead and manage the in-house security team and external security personnel.
- Conduct regular security drills and training sessions for security staff.
- Ensure discipline and efficiency within the security team.

**Surveillance & Risk Mitigation**
- Monitor security camera footage and investigate suspicious activities.
- Conduct security audits and recommend improvements.
- Identify potential threats such as theft, illegal mining activities, and security breaches.

**Incident Handling & Reporting**
- Respond to security incidents and conduct thorough investigations.
- Maintain detailed records of security events and report findings to senior management.
- Liaise with local law enforcement agencies and regulatory bodies when necessary.

**Skills & Qualifications Required**

**Experience & Background**
- Must be **ex-military (Army/Navy/Air Force)** with at least **8-10 years of experience** in security operations.
- Prior experience in **mining, industrial security, or high-risk environments** is preferred.
- Hands-on experience in handling **security threats, crisis management, and surveillance monitoring**.

**Technical & Operational Skills**
- Strong knowledge of **CCTV surveillance systems, access controls, and security protocols**.
- Experience in conducting **risk assessments and implementing security measures**.
- Familiarity with security technologies such as drones and GPS tracking is a plus.

**Leadership & Communication**
- Ability to lead, train, and motivate a team of security personnel.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills with senior management and external agencies.
- Strong **decision-making and crisis management abilities**.

**Other Requirements**
- Physically fit and capable of handling emergency situations.
- Willing to work in a **remote mining environment** with challenging conditions.
- Fluent in **English**; knowledge of **French or Swahili** is an added advantage.
