Associate Counsel

**Position**:
We're looking for an Associate Counsel who can balance legal research and attention to detail with legal project management and drafting. You will work closely with cross-functional teams - sales, marketing, human resources and finance - to address all legal requirements.

**Location**:

- Mumbai, Pune

**Responsibilities**:

- Create relations of trust by developing, improving, negotiating and finalizing contracts and business agreements with customers, partners and vendors
- Collaborate with executives and Human Resources to develop, improve and communicate policies and procedures in compliance with statutory requirements
- Collaborate with Sales and Finance teams to ensure all transactions are consistent with internal corporate policies and processes
- Understand the Company's growth and strategy plans to enable informed tactical choices while effectively communicating the legal risks involved in any decision
- Act as a business partner to government and commercial Sales teams to ensure timely management and closure of sales opportunities
- Update the company's standard agreements as per trends in counterparty feedback, and create bespoke agreements for specific engagements when required
- Handle all legal compliance requirements such as insurance, export control and Information Security.
- Make decisions and exercise sound judgment and, where necessary, challenge business partners
- Execute fundraising related legal processes including the development of transaction documents and communications, and ensure compliance with corporate and legal requirements.

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- 4 years of experience in a corporate legal department of a technology company, a reputable Law Firm or the legal department of a multinational corporation.
- Demonstrated proficiency of independent work of high complexity including medium sized projects
- Stays updated with recent changes in applicable corporate law
- Demonstrated experience to research legal topics including the creation of policy documents
- Demonstrated abilities to work independently and as part of a team and interact professionally with customers, vendors, and other business associates
- Ability to multi-task and efficiently prioritize and manage workflow to meet deadlines
- Experience and proficiency in general commercial law and corporate advisory
- Prior experience in working with a US based company, or exposure to US laws will be an advantage
- Prior experience administering capitalization records will be an advantage
