**KRAs for Database Administrator (DBA) for Microsoft SQL Server.**

**1. Database Performance Optimization**
- Maintain and enhance the performance of the SQL Server databases.
- Monitor and optimize SQL Server performance using tools like SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and Performance Monitor.
- Implement indexing strategies and fine-tune queries to reduce response times.
- Regularly review and optimize server configurations and database schemas.

**2. Data Integrity and Availability**
- Always ensure data accuracy and availability.
- Implement and maintain database backups, including full, differential, and transaction log backups.
- Manage database replication, mirroring, and failover clustering to maintain high availability.

**3. Security Administration**
- Secure database access and protect sensitive data.
- Enforce security policies and practices, such as least privilege access control and regular password rotations.
- Regularly update and patch SQL Server installations to protect against vulnerabilities.
- Audit and monitor database access and activities to prevent unauthorized data access.

**4. Compliance and Auditing**
- Ensure the database environment complies with regulatory and organizational standards.
- Regularly perform audits and generate reports for compliance with regulations such as GDPR, HIPAA, or PCI-DSS.
- Implement and monitor database policies and procedures to ensure they are followed.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors to facilitate compliance reviews and rectify non-compliance issues.

**5. Disaster Recovery Planning**
- Develop and maintain robust disaster recovery strategies.
- Develop, test, and update disaster recovery plans that align with business continuity requirements.
- Conduct regular disaster recovery drills to ensure quick restoration of SQL Server environments in case of a catastrophic failure.
- Evaluate and implement appropriate disaster recovery technologies and services.

**6. Project Support and Collaboration**
- Provide technical support and collaboration for projects impacting the SQL Server environment.
- Assist in the design and deployment of database structures that meet project requirements.
- Ensure smooth and efficient database integration and migration activities.

**7. Capacity Planning and Scalability**
- Plan and manage database infrastructure to meet future data demands.
- Monitor data storage and growth trends to anticipate capacity needs.
- Plan and implement scalable solutions to accommodate future data increases.
- Coordinate with IT infrastructure teams to ensure hardware and software resources meet database demands.
