The Senior Specialist - Nuveen Client Services conducts operational activities for the investment function, supporting the management of capital on behalf of pensions, endowments, corporate plan sponsors, and other institutional investors. Working under limited supervision, this job executes various operational processes pertinent to trade processing, settlements, securities transfer and record maintenance.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Executes asset management operational processes including trade processing, settlements, and securities transfers, ensuring quality, accuracy and completeness.
- Researches complex investment account issues and resolves escalated issues.
- Participates in process improvement initiatives to improve operational efficiency, communicating recommendations for further process improvement opportunities to management team.
- Reviews financial statements and performance reports before they are distributed to investors.
- Communicates with legal counsel and outside auditors on filings, examinations, reporting, and other related tasks as needed.
- Ensures compliance with investment restrictions, laws, Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC), tax codes, and other corporate and regulatory policies when performing operational processes.

Functional Responsibilities:

- Ensure cash and positions for respective Funds/Portfolios are reconciled accurately, efficiently and on a
timely basis with custodians and other external parties, as well as across multiple internal systems
- Upon identifying and analyzing exceptions, ensure necessary, corrective action is assigned to responsible
parties, logged, and prioritized for resolution
- Interface with internal and external business teams to identify root cause of exceptions and track resolution
- Develop a significant level of expertise of the holdings, terms, and transactions of all Funds/Portfolios to
ensure accuracy of the reconciliations process
- Ensure adherence to compliance and regulatory requirements
- Ensure all process and audit trail documentation is up-to-date at all times
- Identify, escalate and thereby proactively manage process/delivery risks
- Respond to numerous ad hoc requests from internal and external clients for additional information
business processes as and when required
- Maintain and provide timely and accurate MI of process performance and risk
- Assist with ad hoc duties as assigned
Job Requirements And Qualifications:
Required Education:
Bachelor’s Degree
Accounting, Business, finance or related discipline
Required Experience:
6-9 years
- Investment Banking / Asset Management Industry experience in an offshored operations environment.
- Working knowledge of investment instruments, i.e. Fixed Income, Bank Loan, CLOs Equities, Derivatives, Foreign Exchange, etc.
- Working Knowledge of securities processes, i.e., Corporate Actions, Trade Operations, and Securities Lending
Skills and Abilities:
Required
- Demonstrated ability to analyze processes and proven attention to detail
- Good problem solving skills and strong commitment to procedures and controls
- Ability to work and function independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Multi-tasking and prioritization in a high pressure environment
- Interpersonal and relationship building skills
- Experience using Microsoft Office suite of products (particularly Excel & Access)
- Very good communication skills, written and verbal
- Customer Service skills
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Omgeo products (Alert, CTM, Oasys)
- Experience with Eagle Star Portfolio Accounting System, WSO, Clear PAR
- Experience with Linedata’s Longview Trading System, Bloomberg AIM, Charles River Investment Management Solution (CRD) (CRIMS)
- Experience with BBH Infomediary
