**Job Summary**: The Operating Theater Nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care in the operating room environment. This role involves preparing patients for surgery, assisting the surgical team, and ensuring a sterile and safe environment during procedures. The Operating Theater Nurse must work efficiently and effectively under pressure, maintaining high standards of patient care and safety.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Preoperative Care**:

- Prepare the operating room for surgical procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment, supplies, and sterile instruments are ready.
- Verify patient identity, surgical site, and consent forms in accordance with established protocols.
- Assess and prepare patients for surgery, including checking vital signs and addressing any concerns or questions.
- Communicate with patients and their families to provide information about the surgical procedure and obtain preoperative consent.
- **Intraoperative Support**:

- Assist the surgical team during procedures by passing instruments, sutures, and other supplies as needed.
- Monitor and manage sterile fields to prevent contamination and maintain a sterile environment.
- Observe and document patient responses, vital signs, and any changes during the procedure.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other team members to ensure the smooth progression of the surgical procedure.
- **Postoperative Care**:

- Provide immediate postoperative care, including monitoring patients as they recover from anesthesia.
- Assist with patient transfer from the operating room to the recovery area or ICU.
- Monitor and manage postoperative wounds, including dressing changes and assessment for signs of infection.
- Educate patients and their families on postoperative care, including medication management and follow-up instructions.
- **Safety and Compliance**:

- Adhere to infection control practices, including proper hand hygiene, sterilization of equipment, and maintenance of a clean operating environment.
- Follow hospital policies and procedures related to patient safety, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and emergency protocols.
- Participate in regular training and continuing education to stay updated on best practices and advancements in surgical nursing.
- **Documentation and Communication**:

- Accurately document all aspects of patient care, including surgical procedures, medications administered, and any complications or concerns.
- Communicate effectively with the surgical team, providing updates and collaborating on patient care decisions.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA or local regulations.
- **Quality Improvement**:

- Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives to enhance surgical care and patient outcomes.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of new protocols and procedures to improve efficiency and safety in the operating room.

**Qualifications**:

- **Education**: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited institution.
- **Licensure**: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in [State/Country].
- **Experience**: Previous experience in an operating room or surgical setting is preferred; certification in perioperative nursing (e.g., CNOR) is a plus.
- **Skills**:

- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, sterile techniques, and operating room equipment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) and other healthcare technologies.

**Physical Requirements**:

- Ability to stand for extended periods and assist with lifting and positioning patients.
- Capable of performing physical tasks and handling medical equipment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.

**Working Conditions**:

- Operating room environment with potential exposure to infectious diseases and hazardous materials.
- May require shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, depending on surgical schedules.

Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹22,000.00 per month

Schedule:

- Rotational shift
