**Ǫualification**: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSc Nursing) or General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM)

**Job Summary**:The WARD Nurse is responsible for providing specialized, high-level care to critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit. This role involves monitoring patients’ vital signs, administering medications, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver optimal care. The WARD Nurse must demonstrate advanced clinical skills, critical thinking, and the ability to handle high-pressure situations.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**1. Patient Care**:

- Monitor and assess patients’ vital signs, including heart rate, blood pressure, respiratory rate, and temperature.
- Administer medications, intravenous fluids, and treatments as prescribed.
- Provide life support and emergency care as needed.

**2. Documentation**:

- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including observations, treatments, and responses.
- Document and report changes in patients’ conditions to physicians and other healthcare professionals.

**3. Collaboration**:

- Work closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and contribute to care decisions.
- Communicate effectively with patients’ families to provide updates and education about their loved one’s condition and treatment.

**4. Patient and Family Support**:

- Offer emotional support and counseling to patients and their families during critical times.
- Educate families about post-WARD care and the patient’s condition.

**5. Emergency Response**:

- Respond promptly to emergencies, including cardiac arrests and rapid deteriorations in patient conditions.
- Utilize advanced life support techniques and equipment as needed.

**6. Infection Control and Safety**:

- Follow strict infection control protocols to ensure a sterile environment and prevent healthcare-associated infections.
- Adhere to safety procedures and report any hazards or unsafe conditions.

**7. Professional Development**:

- Stay current with advancements in critical care nursing through continuing education and training.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to maintaining high standards of care.

**- Skills**:

- Advanced clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Computer knowledge is compulsory.
- Ability to operate and interpret complex medical equipment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
