**Introduction**:
As the research and analysis division of the Economist Group, The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) helps leaders prepare for opportunity, empowering them to act with confidence when making strategic decisions. The EIU is the global standard in providing quality, actionable intelligence to the public and private sector, assessing issues that impact the marketplace for over two hundred countries.

**Accountabilities**:
**How you will contribute**:

- Maintain and develop the methodology used for forecasting and quantitative analysis across the EIU; ensuring the accuracy, reliability and consistency of economic forecasts and quantitative analysis.
- Use and implement econometric techniques to improve our models and forecasts and develop and approve the appropriate forecast methodologies for bespoke research projects.
- In conjunction with the Director and the Team Lead, develop and commercialize new methodologies.
- Contribute to protecting and enhancing the quality of all data products and work closely with the Team Lead and the Economists in the team to ensure quality of data used for modelling & forecasting purposes.
- Ensure that EIU Data Services is consistent and of high editorial quality in terms of coverage, content and format. Work closely with the team to develop data collection capability.
- Take line management responsibility for two data analysts within the team. This will involve training, coaching and conducting formal performance reviews in conjunction with the Team Lead/Director of the Economics Unit.
- Support the Team Lead/Director with recruitment of new data analysts.
- Support the Director in the development of new product/services.
- Take charge of specific strategic initiatives, as guided/assigned by the Director and the Team Lead, to identify market opportunities, target audience, problem definition and preferred solution path.
- Propose and implement product development across all data products.
- Pitch ideas and strategic insights with the Team Lead for product solutions.
- Manage bespoke research projects in conjunction with the Consulting divisions.
- Represent EIU Data Services to both internal and external clients and/or partners as and when the opportunities arise.

**Experience, skills and professional attributes**:
**The ideal skills for this role are**:

- At-least two years of relevant experience
- A strong understanding of economics, demographic and international trade concepts - key data series and their inter-relationships
- Proven experience in statistical analysis and applied econometric modelling (like time series models - ARIMA/VAR/VECM or panel data models)
- Proven experience in team management
- Proficiency in R/Python/EViews/Stata/Matlab
- Advanced Excel skills and experience in database management/handling large datasets
- Strong understanding of key economic concepts
- Good communication skills to work effectively with other functional teams
- Initiative and creativity in providing quantitative client solutions
- Ability to use team resources effectively and deliver high quality output
