Product Functional Test Mechanical Technician

**DESCRIPTION**

Key Responsibilities:

- **Testing Assistance** : Assist in testing in accordance with established test procedures and methodology.
- **Preparation** : Prepare test articles and associated fixtures, rigs, and equipment for testing.
- **Equipment Functionality** : Demonstrate an understanding of the function of test equipment and its contribution to the validity of test results.
- **Product Knowledge** : Demonstrate knowledge of the functioning of the product under test to assess its contribution to the validity of the test results.
- **Installation and Maintenance** : Perform test stand installation, troubleshooting, setups, and upkeep and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- **Additional Duties** : Perform other duties as required.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**Skills**:

- **Knowledge of Engine Systems**: Understanding of engine systems’ function and working; fuel systems experience is an added advantage.
- **Assembly/Disassembly**: Ability to carry out assembly/disassembly of fuel system parts.
- **Test Planning**: Formulate test plans for rigs based on customer requirements.
- **Test Execution**: Execute tests on rigs as per request and perform preliminary data analysis.
- **Innovative Methods**: Use prescribed and innovative methods with limited guidance.
- **Mechanical Tools**: Hands-on experience handling measurement and mechanical tools.
- **Data Acquisition**: Prepare samples, verify equipment calibration, and perform tests according to approved procedures.
- **Data Reporting**: Prepare documentation that clearly organizes and presents testing methods, instrument settings, data, and analysis.
- **Test System Design**: Interpret test equipment specifications and integrate appropriate equipment, instrumentation, and software.
- **Test Setup and Configuration**: Determine optimal location and orientation within a test space and fabricate required systems.
- **Test Article Build**: Assemble test articles according to test requirements, including necessary installation or accommodations for instrumentation.
- **Preventative Maintenance**: Develop and execute preventative and predictive maintenance strategies.
- **Data Quality**: Identify, understand, and correct flaws in data to support effective information governance.

**Experience**:

- 1-3 years of relevant work experience in mechanical testing, preferably with exposure to engine systems and fuel systems.
- Requires some work experience and intermediate-level knowledge obtained through training or on-the-job experience.
