- Utilize resources efficiently and effectively.
- Accurately bill procedures and items used as per the hospital policy.
- Delegate tasks to other health care assistants and ensure they are accomplished on time.
- Demonstrate effective teamwork in the work place.
- Maintain good liaison between Doctors, patients and their family members and other support services.
- Timely report to Team Leaders/Head Nurses/Supervisor as appropriate.
- Timely report safety and security issues or any untoward incidents to Head Nurses/Supervisor/On duty Supervisor.
- Report incidents either online or written to Quality department before completion of the shift.
- Maintain records and reports in the unit accurately.
- Effectively orient, guide and supervise the new staff.
- Initiate Emergency Codes as per the need and perform roles as per the protocol.
- Actively participate in the disaster management process and mock drills conducted in the hospital.
- Utilize opportunities for professional growth and advancements by participating in the in-house trainings and external training programs as appropriate.
- Implement nursing process in nursing care by appropriately identifying problems, writing care plan as needed and giving care accordingly based on priority.
- Effectively endorse patient information at bedside.
- Provide continuity of care and meet patient’s needs appropriately.
- Use verbal, non-verbal and written communication techniques effectively.
- Provide safe and high quality care based on evidence based practice.
- Maintain privacy and confidentiality of patients, family and business confidentiality at all times.
- Appropriately and efficiently meet basic needs of patients:
- Physical needs: bed making, moving, lifting, transferring, wheeling and accompanying patients.
- Position change following body mechanics, use of comfort and safety devices.
- Hygienic needs: assisting for bath room bath, sponge bath, hair, eyes, nose, mouth and back care, care of pressure points.
- Elimination needs:
- Assist in toileting of bedridden patients, providebed pan and urinal, suppositories, enemas, bowel wash.
- Diapering and its care, perineal care, catheter care and maintain intake-output accurately.
- Nutritional needs: serving food, assisting for feeding, feeding helpless patients, tube feeding
- Psychological and spiritual needs of patient.
- Perform active and passive exercise as per the patient needs.
- Effectively perform patient assessment as per the hospital policy:
- Assess patient and follow monitoring protocol.
- Physical assessment - head to toe assessment and system wise assessment.
- Physiological assessment-vital signs, GCS, pain assessment and reassessment, collect/assist for collection of specimen sample
- blood, urine, stool, vomitus, and sputum and its dispatch.
- Inform the results to the concerned doctor immediately.
- Perform point of care tests, interpret the results, intimate the doctor and intervene as per the order.(ABG/VBG/CBG/GRBS/ECG/ACT/Trop I etc.)
- Adhere to infection control practices:
- Standard and Isolation precautions
- Transportation of infected patient
- Bundle care and prevention of HAIs
- Cleaning and disinfection of patient unit and equipment
- Proper segregation and disposal of biomedical waste management
- Appropriately providetherapeutic nursing care based on patient condition. Eg: Oxygen therapy, nebulization, steam inhalation, suctioning-oral/nasal/tracheostomy etc
- Effectively insert and secure peripheral cannula.
- Effectively monitor and care patient:
- on restraint
- with moderate sedation
- on epidural
- with ostomy.
- on blood and blood product transfusion
- on chemotherapy
- on dialysis
- with invasive lines, tubes and drains
- with fluid and electrolyte imbalance.
- with pressure injury
- Pre and post-operative
- unconscious and bedridden patients.
- assisting with self-care of physically/mentally challenged patients
- Care and manage neonates, paediatric, obstetric and international patients skilfully
- Provide effective back care and position change every 2nd hourly for bedridden patients
- Intend, receive, administer and document the medication following medication rights.
- Perform accurately drug and fluid calculations:
- Oral drug administration
- Parenteral administration -ID, SC, IM, IV.
- Effectively administer blood and blood products as per the protocol.
- Facilitate timely discharge process:
- Return, intend and receive the disch
