Job Summary:
Key Responsibilities:
Legal Metrology Compliance:
Ensure adherence to the Legal Metrology Act, 2009 and the associated Legal Metrology Rules.
Conduct regular audits of weighing and measuring instruments to ensure their accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
Collaborate with internal teams to resolve any discrepancies or issues related to Legal Metrology standards.
Drafting Letters and Replies:
Draft clear and professional letters to various stakeholders such as government authorities, suppliers, and customers on matters related to Legal Metrology.
Provide timely and effective responses to notices, show cause notices, and inspection reports issued by authorities or received from other stakeholders.
Assist in the preparation of required documents for compliance and inspections.
Notice Management:
Manage and respond to notices from government bodies, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
Coordinate with internal departments to collect data and evidence required for timely and accurate responses.
Ensure compliance with inspection and certification processes for measuring instruments and products.
Legal Research and Advice:
Conduct regular research on emerging legal issues related to Legal Metrology, FMCG regulations, and industry standards.
Provide proactive legal advice on compliance, mitigating potential legal risks and liabilities for the business.
Keep up-to-date with changes in relevant laws and regulations, advising the business on their implications.
Training and Awareness:
Organize and deliver training sessions on Legal Metrology laws and internal compliance protocols for employees.
Develop and implement internal awareness programs to ensure the entire team is aligned with compliance practices.
Ensure that all relevant stakeholders are adequately trained to prevent non-compliance and legal issues.
Record Keeping and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of all correspondence, notices, documents, and reports concerning Legal Metrology compliance.
Prepare regular compliance reports for senior management, detailing any challenges or breaches related to Legal Metrology.
Ensure that documentation is properly filed, accessible, and adheres to legal requirements.
**Requirements**:
**Education**:
LL.B. (Bachelor of Laws) or equivalent law degree from a recognized university.
**Experience**:
A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar legal role, preferably in the FMCG industry or a related field.
Prior experience in Legal Metrology compliance and managing compliance-related tasks is highly preferred.
Experience in responding to government notices and managing legal documentation.
**Skills**:Strong knowledge of the Legal Metrology Act, 2009, and its associated rules and regulations.
Excellent drafting and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Proven ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
High level of organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities.
Certifications:
Certification in Legal Metrology or related fields is desirable but not mandatory.
Personal Attributes:
A proactive and diligent approach to tasks, with the ability to identify risks and opportunities.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality work.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
