As an accountant you will:

- Have an aptitude for numbers, sharp attention to detail, and a solid understanding of financial and budgetary principles, particularly within the retail sector
- Match invoices to purchase orders and enter invoices by maintaining Good Receipt Note (GRN) for stock received
- Responsible for PF/ESI/TDS/GST/Income Tax Filings and Reconciliations
- Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending Prepare payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements.
- Pay vendors by monitoring discount opportunities, scheduling and preparing cheques, resolving purchase order, contract, invoice, or payment discrepancies and documentation; insuring credit is received for outstanding memos, issuing stop-payments or purchase order amendments
- Pay employees by receiving and verifying expense reports for advances; preparing cheques
- Maintain accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions
- Verify vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements. Enter new or update vendor names and data
- Report sales taxes by calculating requirements on paid invoices
- Provide accurate and effective document preparation and records management relative to the AP function in accordance with records retention policies and procedures
- Work closely with Finance, Operations, Purchasing and Logistics departments in resolving all discrepancies as well as circulating reporting required.
- Protect organization’s value by keeping information confidential

If you are a person with:

- Minimum 2 years of accounts experience in retail industry or warehouse
- Experience in general accounting or cost accounting
- Adaptive and solutions-based approach to selling
- Proactive, strong communicator in all forms & at all level.
- Excellent planning & organisational skills.
- Excellent Computer skills, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Microsoft Excel) to at least intermediate level.
- Ability to work under pressure, maintaining accuracy & keeping to deadlines.
- Strong analytical skills and a technical mind set/proven ability to interpret numerical data.
- Ability to influence effectively and build constructive working relationships across the business.
- Adaptable and flexible approach to working hours to support a 24/7 business operation (including potential weekend working and out of hours office support).
