**Title**:AVP** - Credit Risk, Non Model Tool Oversight (SM)**
**Role Summary/Purpose**:
This role is responsible for supporting the cyclical and ad hoc reviews of Non-Model Tools (NMT) across Synchrony (SYF), produce NMT periodic reporting and manage the governance process around NMT annual plan. The role will work directly with various members of the NMT team to assist in completing the NMT reviews and will be under the leadership of the VP, NMT Oversight Leader within the Chief Credit Risk Officer organization. This position is remote, where you have the option to work from home. On occasion we may request for you to commute to our nearest office for in person engagement activities such as team meetings, training and culture events. **Essential Functions / Responsibilities**:
- Work with VP, NMT Oversight and serve as key contributor while performing independent reviews of NMTs criteria and performance where applicable, compare expected versus actual results, review accuracy/completeness of supporting documentation and appropriateness of performance monitoring.
- Leverage advanced technical expertise to translate documentation of NMTs into SAS code or other logic based code to assist in completing the reviews.
- Pull data from various warehouses and perform analyses as directed by the VP.
- Independently identify appropriate data sources and validate efficacy of the data when writing code to validate NMTs.
- Work directly with the LOB NMT owner to understand the development and usage of the NMT to assess risk.
- Synthesize validation results of reviews and opine on the efficacy of the data and usage of the NMT. Contribute opinions into producing detailed ‘white paper’ reports that will ultimately be shared with first, second, and third line stakeholders, regulators and Senior Leadership.
- Assist VP in conducting meetings with stakeholders, document results and findings in eGRC system and monitor mitigation as per the chosen timeline.
- Where applicable, perform ad-hoc or deep-dive analyses to better understand the materiality of concern with regards to a new NMT or complex tool that may not quite meet the NMT definition
- Work with other Risk functions across the second line of defense to increase awareness of analytical testing approaches, create synergies and avoid redundancies.
- Perform on special projects as assigned
**Qualifications / Requirements**:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM related or Business field with 4+ years’ experience in a consumer credit/risk analytics role; OR, in lieu of Bachelor’s degree, 6+ years’ experience in consumer credit/risk analytics role.
- Minimum 4+ years’ experience with SAS/SQL or other transferable logic based programming.
- Solid understanding of the consumer credit lending lifecycle and card programs
- Intermediate EXCEL skill-set
- Good communication skills especially in articulating a technical result in laymen terms
**Desired Qualifications**:
- Ability to work on simultaneous multiple projects, organize work flow, and prioritize work assignments while being in different time zones.
- Solid reasoning skills in conjunction with an intimate understanding of how SYF systems work and how their outflows tie into the data warehouse.
- Good aptitude in deciphering and interpreting NMT documentation and criteria and the ability to translate that into independently created logic.
- Commercially effective and collaborative across teams and functions.
- 5+ years’ experience with SAS/SQL or other transferable logic based programming.
