Legal Research Intern

Responsibilities:

- **Conduct Legal Research**: Perform comprehensive legal research on various topics, including case law, statutes, regulations, and legal precedents.
- **Draft Legal Documents**: Assist in drafting legal documents such as briefs, memos, motions, and reports.
- **Summarize Cases**: Review and summarize case law, legal opinions, and other relevant legal documents.
- **Analyze Legal Issues**: Help analyze legal issues and provide well-organized, concise summaries and recommendations.
- **Support Legal Team**: Provide support to attorneys and legal staff in preparing for hearings, trials, and meetings.
- **Stay Updated**: Keep abreast of new developments in laws, regulations, and legal standards relevant to the organization’s work.
- **Administrative Tasks**: Perform administrative duties related to legal research and documentation as needed.

**Requirements**:

- **Education**: Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Law (LLB, BA.LLB).
- **Research Skills**: Strong research skills with the ability to efficiently gather, analyze, and summarize legal information.
- **Writing Skills**: Excellent written communication skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in legal writing.
- **Analytical Ability**: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- **Tech-Savvy**: Proficiency in using legal research databases (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis) and other online resources.
- **Time Management**: Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
- **Confidentiality**: Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in handling sensitive legal information.
- **Communication**: Effective verbal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a remote setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Previous experience in legal research or related fields.
- Familiarity with specific areas of law relevant to the organization’s focus (e.g., intellectual property, corporate law, human rights).
