**OPENING FOR INFORMATION OFFICER**

Department: Office of Registrar

Designation: Information officer / Executive

Qualification: MCA

Gender: Only male

Experience: 1 to 5 years (college experience preferred)

**Salary**: Asper Industry norms

Location: Chennai surroundings only

Job description:

- Source relevant careers information and present it in a way that's accessible to the user.
- Search for information, using hard copy and electronic formats.
- Answer information enquiries from service users and work colleagues.
- Provide information support to colleagues within the service and to outside associates.
- Market, advertise and publicize the service of the institute.
- Plan and give presentations and information unit tours.
- Represent the service at internal and external events.
- Collect and analyze data for evaluation of the service.
- Write reports, blogs, web articles and publications.
- Plan, design and supervise IT and website provision.
- Liaise with other information providers.
- Use social media, for example Twitter and LinkedIn, to communicate information.
- Collect, collate and present statistical data.
- Select, manage and distribute information resources in a range of formats.
- Create and search databases.
- Catalogue and index materials.
- Scan and abstract materials.
- Conduct information audits.
- Develop and manage electronic resources using, for example, online databases and content management systems.
- Oversee the development of new information systems.
- Help assess proposed new subscription databases and make recommendations based on staff/client needs.
- Develop and manage information resources and networks via intranet sites.
- Write and edit reports, publications and intranet content.
- Respond to requests and enquiries from staff and external clients.
- Promote the information service to ensure staff and clients are aware of all relevant knowledge and information resources.
- Run effective enquiry and current awareness or 'alerting' services and develop communications strategies.
- Provide user education via leaflets, websites and tours of the library or information room.
- Deliver services such as online resource housekeeping and training materials.
- Provide training and advice to colleagues, and sometimes clients, on the use of electronic information services and key research resources.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹200,000.00 - ₹300,000.00 per year
