Job Title: Patent Counsel (India)

Location: Chennai, India

Key Responsibilities:

- Assisting in evaluating invention disclosures.
- Providing patent advice to engineering groups within the company.
- Evaluate exposure to patents asserted against the Company and assist in the defense of such claims.
- Work with external counsel on various legal matters related to Intellectual Property transactions, US and International.
- Assist in other substantive duties and special projects as requested by the Deputy General Counsel, IP & Product.

Minimum Requirements:

- Citizen of India
- Registered Patent Agent in good standing with the Controller in India.
- Degree in law and registered to practice as an attorney is strongly desired.
- Background in computer software or telecommunications preferred with prior patent prosecution experience strongly preferred.
- Functional knowledge of PCT practice.
- 3-5 years of experience.

Desirable Skills:

- Communicates regularly with colleagues, management, and outside counsel.
- Seeks out patent opportunities from company employees.
- Ability to function as an integral part of the legal team, development groups, company divisions, and individually.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse set of personalities and cultures.
- Legally eligible to work in India.
