**Knowing how to adjust, align, and operate these components properly.**
**Knowledge of different materials (e.g., metals, plastics, or wood) and their properties.**
**Understanding how each material responds to cutting tools and speed.**
**Ability to select the right cutting tools based on material and desired shape (e.g., carbide, HSS, or diamond-tipped tools).**
**Skills in sharpening and maintaining cutting tools to ensure efficiency.**
**Interpreting engineering blueprints and specifications to guide machining tasks.**
**Ensuring accuracy of dimensions and tolerances in the final product.**
**Using measuring tools like micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators to verify part dimensions.**
**Calibrating the lathe for accurate operation based on specific tolerances.**
**Facing: Creating a flat surface on the end of a workpiece.**
**Turning: Reducing the diameter of the workpiece.**
**Thread Cutting: Creating threads on cylindrical surfaces.**
**Drilling: Using the lathe’s tailstock to drill precise holes.**
**Knurling: Creating textured patterns on the surface.**
**Taper Turning: Producing conical shapes.**
