ROLE PROFILE
The Opportunity
This role is responsible for designing and developing Propulsion systems and capabilities in the system engineering function layer at the logical and physical solution domain. You will be responsible for building and owning the generic system artifacts for new and existing Powertrain propulsion concepts, capabilities and features in the (xHEV Diesel/Gasoline) space ensuring they are legally compliant, meets customer attributes expectations and are competitive in the market.
Some of these artifacts are (but not limited to) customer requirements mapping, feature/capability definition, Use case analysis, Logical architecture diagram, Functional Failure Analysis, generic functional requirements cascade, test case mapping, target generation and issue resolution for Powerpacks.
Special requirements for this role are a good knowledge and experience in ICE PTs and transmissions with couple mid/high voltage electrification systems (MHEV/PHEV), torque, electrical and thermal energy management, AND aftertreatment system and Gas-path, pollutant emissions and requirements in different markets, with understanding on strategy development, calibration and controls.

- Support the Desing of integrated PT propulsion systems, control Strategy/SFW concepts.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Robust requirements and targets delivered on-cycle to programmes.
- System artifacts (MBSE models, use case analysis, LAD, FFA/DFMEA/DRBFM, DVP, requirements, standards) developed off-cycle and updated on-cycle as required.
- New functions delivered by statement of capability (SOC) and Feature statement of intent (FSOI) process.
- System compatibility Issues identified, reported and efficiently resolved
- Ensure functions adherence to the use of specified engineering methods, computer tools and aids applied
- Support indirect team members understanding of the function with your expert knowledge.
- Lead the analysis of complex data from CAE and physical test properties.
- Chair technical reviews/forums and resolve complex cross functional issues.
- Develop methods & run technical studies into future technologies.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential:

- Relevant experience of working in a Systems Engineering environment - ideally within the Automotive Sector
- Expertise in Propulsion/Powertrain Engineering in: Emissions-After-treatment/Gas-path and knowledge on in Base engines, 48V Systems/Batteries, Torque and Energy Arbitration.
- xHEV propulsion system integration.
- Relevant experience of system definition, system architecture development, requirements specification, design/performance modelling, systems integration, system assessment and acceptance
- Relevant experience in development of electrified propulsion system as MHEV, PHEV and/or BEV.
- Relevant calibration and control exposure in propulsion system
- Experience in model base system engineering and/or any tool for Systems Architecting.
- Experience and exposure to CAE on vehicle, propulsion and sub-systems.
- Experience in defining Test cases and DoE for HIL, PIL, VIL and vehicle environment.
- Capable of complex data analytics from CAE and physical testing, mathematical projection, estimation, walk generation. (complexes excel macro/database, Matlab, MDA, Concerto).
- Good understanding of 8D issue resolution and data statistics 6 sigma methods.
- Familiarity with Product Creation Development System [PCDS] which could be delivered via Agile Groups / Squads.
- Significant knowledge of engineering planning and delivery processes
- Full UK or equivalent driving licence
- Relevant degree or equivalent experience preferred

Desirable:

- Expert experience beyond Emissions, After-treatment, Gas-path in the specific area of: Base engines, HV Systems, Torque and Energy Arbitration.
- Relevant calibration and control exposure in propulsion system
- Experience of Magic System/TRM of Systems Architect
- CAE experience on vehicle and propulsion sub-systems with exposure to Simulink modelling
