**Job description**

The Purchaser/Purchasing Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of purchasing strategies. He/She identifies potential suppliers to secure cost-effective sources. He/She establishes and maintains good relationships with suppliers to negotiate for the best terms. The Purchaser/Purchasing Manager monitors supplier performance in terms of on-time delivery, quality and cost. He/She establishes key performance measurements to evaluate the purchasing process. He/She drafts and reviews purchase contracts to ensure relevance to market trends. He/She also prepares monthly status reports for management review.
- Analyse, monitor and forecast inventory levels.
- Award contracts in accordance with purchasing best practices.
- Coordinate local and overseas delivery.
- Generate monthly purchasing report for management.
- Initiate and lead cost saving initiatives.
- Liaise with local and overseas suppliers.
- Maintain and update the approved supplier list.
- Monitor and keep optimal inventory levels.
- Review ageing inventory on a monthly basis.
- Source, evaluate and qualify suppliers.
