Circular Knitting Technician

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Location**: George, Western Cape, South Africa
**Employment Type**: Full-time

**1. Machine Setup and Operation**:

- Set up circular knitting machines for production runs, ensuring all settings are adjusted according to specifications for 100% cotton yarn.
- Operate knitting machines to produce a variety of knitted fabrics such as single jersey, double jersey, pique, 2 end fleece, 1x1 and 2x1 rib.
- Monitor the knitting process, adjusting machine settings (such as tension, speed, and needle gauge) as necessary to maintain quality.
- Experience is body size machines from 13inch up to 22inch, and wider with machines from 26 inch to 30inch

**2. Quality Control**:

- Inspect finished knitted fabric for defects, ensuring compliance with quality standards and specifications.
- Perform regular checks on yarn, stitch formation, and fabric width to ensure consistency in quality.
- Document quality assessments and report any issues to the supervisory team immediately.

**3. Maintenance and Troubleshooting**:

- Conduct routine maintenance on knitting machines, such as cleaning, lubrication, and replacing worn components.
- Troubleshoot and resolve machine malfunctions, coordinating with maintenance personnel when necessary.
- Maintain a detailed log of machine performance, maintenance, and repairs.

**4. Production Efficiency**:

- Identify opportunities for improving the efficiency of the knitting process and suggest modifications to the team.
- Collaborate with the production team to plan and prioritize production schedules to meet target outputs.
- Ensure that all production materials, especially the 100% cotton yarn, are available and stored properly.

**5. Health and Safety Compliance**:

- Adhere to all organizational health and safety standards while operating equipment.
- Promote a safe working environment by following best practices and encouraging team members to do so.

**6. Training and Development**:

- Train new employees or interns in machine operation and best practices in circular knitting.
- Stay updated on advancements in knitting technology and industry trends relevant to 100% cotton knits.

**Skills**:
Strong understanding of circular knitting machinery and operations.
- Proficient in troubleshooting mechanical issues and performing maintenance.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents in English.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage time effectively.
- Reasonable level of spoken English
