The Lab Chemist at a Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) is responsible for conducting laboratory tests and analyses to monitor the quality of water and wastewater. This role ensures compliance with environmental standards, supports operational efficiency.
**Key Responsibilities**
- **Water and Wastewater Testing**:
- Perform chemical, physical, and biological tests on water and wastewater samples.
- Analyze key parameters such as pH, BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand), COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand), TSS (Total Suspended Solids), and nutrients (e.g., nitrogen, phosphorus).
- Ensure compliance with national and local environmental regulations.
- **Quality Control**:
- Maintain laboratory instruments and equipment in good working order.
- Conduct calibration and validation of lab equipment to ensure accuracy.
- Monitor raw materials and chemicals used in the treatment process.
- **Data Analysis and Reporting**:
- Record and analyze test results accurately, identifying trends or deviations from standards.
- Prepare detailed lab reports and share findings with the operations team and management.
- Assist in troubleshooting and optimizing treatment processes based on laboratory results.
- **Regulatory Compliance**:
- Ensure all analyses adhere to regulatory and environmental standards.
- Prepare documentation for audits and compliance inspections.
- Stay updated on environmental laws and guidelines relevant to wastewater treatment.
- **Safety and Hygiene**:
- Handle chemicals and samples following laboratory safety protocols.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
- Implement proper waste disposal practices for hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
- **Support to Operations**:
- Collaborate with plant operators and engineers to improve treatment efficiency.
- Provide technical support for pilot studies or new treatment methods.
Pay: ₹12,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
