**About the Role Â**

The Springer Nature Journals Group aims to support researchers in communicating and advancing discovery for a better world. We do this by providing a trusted environment in which researchers can quickly, easily and transparently share their discoveries, data and research stories Â

The Collections Management and Acquisition Team is a division within the Publishing Performance & Intelligence group providing expertise and dedicated resources to support the growth of commissioned content across the SN Journal portfolio. Â

 Â

The Managing Editor will work with commissioning editors, publishers, external editors and our operational partners to organize and manage collections on behalf of key parts of the SN Journals portfolio. They will be responsible for the project management of multiple live collections and will work closely with our operational teams to provide an enhanced level of oversight for commissioned articles. Â

Increasing commissioned content is an essential part of our strategy to grow our Springer Nature journal portfolios and this role ensures we can do this at scale while maintaining an excellent level of quality and author service. Â

**Roles Responsibilities**:Â

 Â
- Project management of live collections Â
- Support Commissioning Editor/Guest Editor and Authors with queries Â
- Engagement with the Marketing department Â
- Contact point for Guest Editor throughout the collection Â
- Reporting on Performance of Collection Â
- Contact point for Guest Editor and operations Â
- Monitoring of content flow and delivery against collection submission window Â
- Enhanced oversight to ensure service and quality and key escalation point Â
- Responsible for filtering of MS and general oversight that excellent peer review is in place for commissioned content Â
- Assign new submissions to assistant editor and support as needed Â
- Monitor turn around times (TATs) Â
- With the Editorial Support Advisor team contribute to robust workflow documentation to be used across all portfolios Â
- Point of contact for production and other queries. Â

**Experience**:Â

 Â
- Solid experience of journal publishing workflows, specifically around submit to accept Â
- Good understanding of publishing ethics and integrity issues Â
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including written and in person/on the phone Â
- Good administrative and organisational skills Â
- Strong English skills in written and spoken language Â
- Ability to multi-task Â
- Has a sound understanding of the balance between operational efficiency and editorial rigour. Â
