**About This Role**:
An exciting opportunity is available for a Healthcare Assistant to join our South PET-CT Mobiles team, working with our fleet of mobile scanning units across the south.

You should ideally have experience in a Healthcare environment as they will be required to meet and greet patients and assist the Radiographers in chaperoning patients and help them to prepare for their scan. This may include IV cannulation.

There will also be some responsibility for booking patients and processing patient information into our IT system.

To be successful in this role you must have good communication skills both written and verbal, together with good IT and administration skills. A flexible, organised, and enthusiastic attitude is essential.

Please note that you must be willing to travel due to the nature of the role. You will be provided with a company vehicle and your mileage will be reimbursed. Overnight stays maybe required at times.

The role will be based out of the Royal Cornwall Hospital for the majority of the work, however there will be days on which travel to other mobile sites will be needed.

The hours of work are 36 per week, Monday-Sunday. You will only be required to work 3, 12 hour days per week.

**Skills and Experience**:
Must be flexible and have a keen interest in working in a clinical setting with an emphasis on patient care. Willingness to travel if required and a full UK driving license or equivalent is a must.

Cornwall location would be preferred as shifts will predominantly be in RCH Truro covering reception however some travel may be required to cover clinical assistant shifts elsewhere across the south of the country.

**Operations**:

- Work within site protocols and procedures to ensure the delivery of a quality service
- Liaise with service engineers to facilitate maintenance of equipment, to achieve optimal operational conditions
- Ensure sound knowledge of site RIS systems - both AML and local to ensure all data is recorded in an accurate and timely manner
- Employees must be aware of the responsibilities placed on them under the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) and any subsequent relevant legislation and must follow these in full at all times, including ensuring that they act in line with all agreed procedures at all times in order to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff.
- Work in an efficient and effective manner to maximise patient throughput
- Escalate to the Clinical Lead/Regional Senior any identified issues requiring further management input
- Ensure full compliance with all current AML Policies and Procedures, Local Rules and extant legislation; highlighting any changes to operational protocols, procedures and SOPs within own area and contribution to their review
- Assist with incident and complaint management in an appropriate and timely manner
- Actively participate in departmental audits
- Be reflective in thinking and outlook and be able to source advice, coping with multiple demands during the working day
- Receipt of Referrals: Inputting patient data from referrals to RIS system.
- Query referral: Liaise with consultant to assess an appropriate date for patient to be booked.
- Bookings: Booking PET patients into appointment slots, preparation procedures given
- Retrospective bookings procedure
- Patient completion: interpret the information on the data form and input the data onto the RIS system.

**Compliance and Qualifications**:

- Awareness of, and compliance with Alliance Medical Policies and Procedures, Radiation Regulations (IRMER, IRR and EPR) if modality requires this, CQC requirements and Health and Safety legislation
- Awareness of, and compliance with Data Protection and Patient confidentiality
- Undertake initial and refresher mandatory training to ensure compliance at all times

**Experience**:

- Must be IT literate
- Enhanced DBS clearance required
- Full driving license essential for mobiles
- Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team.
- Evidence of basic literacy and numeracy - GCSE Grade C or above or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics.
- Basic IT literacy (Microsoft Office, Excel & Word)
- Excellent rapport and communication skills with patients, customers and colleagues to provide highest standards of patient care and service
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Excellent time management to optimize patient throughput and efficient service delivery
- Able to undertake allocated tasks appropriate to competence.

**Desirable**
- Experience and knowledge of the workings of an imaging department as a clinical assistant or equivalent.
- (NB Before commencement of the cannulation significant clinical PET experience in PET is required or alternative completion of a short module in patient preparation to deem competence).
- Experience of working in a healthcare environment.
- Operate across multiple sites if required
