A Chef de Partie (CDP) in a continental kitchen is **responsible for the daily food preparation and other duties.** Some of their responsibilities include:

- **Food preparation**: Preparing food, sauces, and entrees, and cooking specific portions of each plated meal
- **Inventory management**: Managing the inventory of raw ingredients and waste disposal
- **Quality assurance**: Ensuring the highest quality and standards in food preparation
- **Team management**: Instructing and leading subordinates, and developing and maintaining positive working relationships with others
- **Safety and hygiene**: Following and ensuring compliance with food hygiene and occupational health and safety measures
- **Cost control**: Taking care with portions and waste to ensure profits remain positive
- **Cleaning**: Cleaning and sanitizing their area with warm water and soap, and cleaning the kitchen before the restaurant closes
