**Oracle Database Administrator - Job Description**

**The Position**

We are seeking a professional DBA with thetechnical skills and knowledge that extends across Application/ Server/Storage/ Network technologies to administer a large, complex production DBenvironment and troubleshoot and provide system level guidance/ solutions. Therole also performs effective centralised database administration for multipledatabases globally. This includes Oracle databases for production, testing, andstaging environments.

**Responsibilities**
- Design, develop, implement andmaintain core Oracle Datanbase and Applications.
- Maintain SQL / PLSQL processes.
- Ensure DB availability.
- Proactively manage and maintainsecurity standards and controls.
- Actively seek to optimize andsimplify architecture.
- Take ownership of performanceand capacity monitoring aspects of the DB.
- Execution of data migrationjobs and scripts as required.
- Assist the infrastructure teamin sizing hardware used for the DB.
- Support and collaborate withproduct developers.
- Contribute to the creation andmaintenance of disaster recovery plans.
- Create a reliable backupstrategy. Ensure database backups are appropriately executed and periodicrestorations are exercised to ensure backup quality.
- Determine and document DBpolicies, procedures and standards.
- Performance testing andevaluation to ensure data security, privacy and integrity. Identification ofbottle necks and deadlock issues.
- Ensure SLA-s & operationalKPI's are met, working as necessary with internal and external supportfunctions when major incidents occur.
**Required skills**
- Ideally Oracle Certified DBProfessional (OCP) with more than 5 years' experience with Oracle, preferablyin a lead role. Experience should include DB design (modelling andnormalisation), capacity planning, performance tuning, storage management,back-up and recovery, managing schemas, report generation and DB clusteringtechnologies.
- Operating system experience inLinux.
