**Job Title**: Student Counsellor

**Location**: Velammal Nexus Group of Schools
**Department**: Student Welfare / Academic Support
**Reporting To**: Principal / Head of Institution / HR Department

**Job Objective**:
To support students’ emotional, psychological, and academic well-being by offering guidance, counselling, and intervention strategies, and to foster a safe and nurturing environment that promotes overall student growth.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Provide one-on-one and group counselling sessions to address students’ academic, emotional, behavioral, and social issues.
- Identify and support students dealing with stress, peer pressure, bullying, family issues, anxiety, depression, or learning difficulties.
- Act as a bridge between parents, teachers, and school administration in understanding student needs.
- Conduct psychological assessments, maintain student case files, and document progress.
- Collaborate with teachers to identify students in need of support and develop action plans.
- Organize awareness programs, workshops, and life skills sessions on topics such as time management, goal setting, mental health, etc.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and uphold the ethics of professional counselling practice.
- Offer crisis intervention when required.
- Guide students in developing positive attitude, personality, and coping mechanisms.
- Refer students to external professionals if specialized intervention is required.

**Required Qualifications**:

- Master’s degree in Psychology / Counselling / Social Work or a related field.
- Certification in counselling or child psychology is preferred.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in school or adolescent counselling.

**Key Skills**:

- High emotional intelligence and empathy.
- Conflict resolution and problem-solving ability.
- Patience, approachability, and non-judgmental attitude.
- Knowledge of child/adolescent psychology.

**Preferred Qualities**:

- Familiarity with school environments and CBSE curriculum.
- Ability to conduct interactive workshops.
- Fluency in English and Tamil (or local language).

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
