A duct installer, also known as an HVAC duct installer, is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing ductwork systems in both residential and commercial buildings, which includes tasks like measuring, cutting, fabricating sheet metal, assembling duct sections, and ensuring proper sealing and airflow by following blueprints and design specifications while adhering to safety protocols; essentially playing a key role in the proper functioning of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. Key responsibilities of a duct installer:
- **Reading blueprints and design plans**:Interpreting project drawings to accurately layout ductwork placement and sizing.
- **Measuring and cutting sheet metal**:Using tools like shears, power saws, and brakes to precisely cut and shape duct sections from sheet metal.
- **Assembling ductwork**:Joining duct pieces together using fasteners, rivets, or welding techniques, ensuring proper seals and connections.
- **Installing duct fittings**:Installing various types of fittings like elbows, transitions, and registers to direct airflow effectively.
- **Securing ductwork**:Properly supporting and securing ducts to building structures using hangers and brackets.
- **Leak testing and sealing**:Inspecting for leaks in the duct system and sealing any gaps with sealant or tape.
- **Maintaining inventory**:Keeping track of duct materials and fittings to ensure adequate supplies for projects.
- **Troubleshooting issues**:Identifying and resolving problems with existing ductwork, such as leaks, airflow imbalances, or noise issues
- **Collaborating with other trades**:Coordinating work with electricians, plumbers, and other construction personnel
Required skills and qualifications:
- **Technical knowledge of HVAC systems**: Understanding the principles of airflow, pressure, and duct design
- **Sheet metal fabrication skills**: Proficiency in using tools like shears, brakes, and power saws to work with sheet metal
- **Blueprint reading and interpretation**: Ability to accurately read and understand construction plans
- **Basic math skills**: Calculating measurements and quantities needed for ductwork installation
- **Physical strength and endurance**: Ability to lift and maneuver heavy duct sections
- **Attention to detail**: Ensuring precise measurements and proper installation to minimize air leaks

Work environment:
- Primarily working indoors on construction sites, often in tight spaces, at heights, and in various weather conditions.
- May involve exposure to dust, noise, and fumes.
Pay: ₹12,000.00 - ₹15,000.00 per month
