- Global Investigations (GI) is looking for a highly talented, self-motivated, and analytical individual to join the Fraud Science and Intelligence Team (FSI). **Job Description**:
**Your way to impact**

The FSI Data Scientist will identify complex fraud patterns through data mining, graph data science, and the development of internal investigative software. Your research will seek to connect seemingly disparate fraud trends that are perpetrated by sophisticated threat groups and track them across the enterprise. This work supports PayPal’s Global Financial Crimes organization by enhancing fraud risk controls, recovering funds from networks of bad actors, and by furnishing timely intelligence data, at scale, to pinpoint abusive activity on the platform.

**Your day to day will include**:

- Develop and deploy algorithms for linking, clustering, and pattern recognition based on various attributes.
- Create and select relevant features from raw data for use in FSI’s fraud linking framework.
- Continuously improve the speed, reliability, and scalability of FSI tools.
- Leverage partner teams’ investigative findings to rapidly deploy new fraud identification techniques.
- Identify opportunities to extend FSI linking solutions with internal partners’ technology stacks for holistic fraud prevention.
- Lead FSI’s engagement with PayPal’s data science and technology organizations.

- Proficient in cleaning and preprocessing large datasets to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Strong SQL experience to create, maintain, and optimize complex queries and database structures.
- Advanced proficiency in Python. Experience with libraries and tools for string processing and pattern recognition.
- Understanding of financially motivated cybercrime trends and typologies.
