The Paralegal Asia will primarily be involved with providing day-to-day assistance and support in relation to the corporate secretarial, governance and horizon scanning functions for AXA XL’s legal entities in Asia. The Paralegal Asia will report to the Senior Legal Counsel, Asia based in Singapore and will form part of the APAC Europe Legal team.

What will your essential responsibilities include?
- Support the Senior Legal Counsel Asia in enhancing the governance, compliance, and internal control framework to ensure alignment with AXA XL's business objectives and regulatory requirements and joining and attending to the relevant Asia branch’s or entities' management and board committee(s).
- Keep abreast of changes (such as through regular horizon scanning techniques) in relevant legal and regulatory developments for the Entities. There will be an expected closer focus on the territories where AXA XL has established insurance risk carrier operations (I.e. Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia and India) although there may be other jurisdictions (e.g. Japan) that may be relevant to the Entities business.
- Administrative support by working with various stakeholder teams to compile agenda/board packs in advance, attending and minuting (virtually) the board meetings for all locally incorporated entities within Asia (Service companies (Hong Kong and Singapore) and the AXA XL Non-regulated Entities such as AXA Matrix, GAAPS Japan etc.
- Monitor legal activities of external counsels or Corporate Secretary providers.
- Support the Senior Legal Counsel Asia in corporate secretary-related matters for Asia entities and branches’ annual/quarterly filings (collating information, working with external corp sec provider where applicable).
- Working in close collaboration with XL Insurance Company SE head office Co-sec and Corporate Governance teams to support any requests or Information gathering activities relating to local Asia companies/branches corporate info (directors’ particulars update, board composition checks, etc.)
- Taking charge of all GALAXY related matters for any of AXA XL Asia entities or branches and updating them into GALAXY.
- Monitor and Implement entries of items and documentation in the APAC Europe Legal corner.

We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:
**Required Skills and Abilities**:

- Diploma or degree in Law or equivalent qualifications.
- Relevant experience as a paralegal or otherwise experience advising on general legal matters within the insurance industry.
- Basic technical legal skills and experience, especially in ability to review legislation/regulations and draft simple meeting minutes and internal research notes (e.g. for horizon scanning processes).
- Excellent communication skills, commercial acumen and the ability to explain and present complex issues clearly and efficiently to underwriters and senior executives.
- A basic understanding of Asia legal and regulatory environments.

**Desired Skills and Abilities**:

- Foreign languages basic proficiency not a pre-requisite but will be a plus: Japanese and/or Chinese.
- Familiarity with corporate secretarial procedures in India or other jurisdictions in Asia is not a pre-requisite but will be a plus.
- Ability to work self-directedly without supervision as well as part of a team.
