**Responsibilities**
- Research and Development: Conduct research to develop innovative AI algorithms and models for autonomous navigation, obstacle avoidance, path planning, decision-making, and control systems for autonomous boats.
- Algorithm Design and Implementation: Design, implement, and optimize AI algorithms and models in programming languages such as Python, C++, or Java, leveraging machine learning and deep learning frameworks.
- Data Acquisition and Analysis: Collect and curate data from various sensors and sources, perform data analysis, preprocessing, and feature extraction to enable effective training and validation of AI models.
- Model Training and Evaluation: Train, fine-tune, and evaluate AI models using large-scale datasets to achieve high-performance levels in terms of accuracy, reliability, and robustness.
- Simulation and Testing: Develop simulation environments to evaluate and validate the performance of autonomous boat systems, conduct experiments, and analyze results to improve algorithms and systems.
- Collaboration and Documentation: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to integrate AI components into overall autonomous boat systems, document research findings, methodologies, and technical specifications.
- Innovation and Intellectual Property: Identify opportunities for innovation, contribute to patent filings, publish research papers, and participate in conferences and workshops to share knowledge and contribute to the scientific community.

**Qualifications**
- Education: Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field with a focus on artificial intelligence, machine learning, or autonomous systems.
- Strong Programming Skills: Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or Java, and experience with machine learning libraries and frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn) for algorithm development and implementation.
- AI and Machine Learning Expertise: In-depth understanding of various AI and machine learning techniques, including deep learning, reinforcement learning, computer vision, natural language processing, and statistical modeling.
- Research Skills: Demonstrated ability to conduct research, formulate problems, design experiments, and develop innovative solutions, with a strong publication record or relevant project portfolio.
- Autonomy and Navigation Systems: Familiarity with principles and technologies related to autonomous systems, including perception sensors (e.g., LiDAR, cameras), GPS, inertial measurement units, motion planning, and control algorithms.
- Data Processing and Analysis: Experience with data collection, pre-processing, feature extraction, and analysis techniques, as well as familiarity with tools like MATLAB, NumPy, or pandas for data manipulation and visualization.
- Teamwork and Communication: Excellent collaboration skills, ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment, and strong verbal and written communication skills to convey complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

**Preferred Skills**
- Familiarity with sensor fusion techniques, probabilistic modelling, and state estimation algorithms.
- Knowledge of safety and regulatory requirements in autonomous systems and maritime operations.
- Experience with simulation tools and platforms (e.g., ROS, Gazebo, Unity) for testing and evaluation of autonomous systems.
- Understanding of cloud computing platforms and distributed computing for AI model training and deployment.
