Reuters Pictures is looking for a dynamic and talented Visuals Journalist with core skills in news photography to join our team in Kolkata, India to report from one of Asia’s most important countries.

We want someone who has excellent communication skills, an unflappable temperament, and a passion for visual journalism. She/he must be able to work closely in a team with other visuals colleagues and reporters.

A commitment to preserving the Thomson Reuters Trust Principles of independence, integrity and freedom from bias is essential.

**Role responsibilities**
- React fast to breaking news, willingness to travel on assignments, sometimes at short notice
- Participate in assignments with multimedia teams
- Ensure safety newsgathering protocols are followed

**Qualifications/Required skills**
- Sharp eye for visual elements that are needed to make good pictures and video stories
- Basic pictures editing skills
- Thorough understanding of the latest digital visual technologies for photographing, filming, editing, transmitting, and sharing
- Self-starter with the ability to identify stories that will be of interest to international media
- Proven storytelling skills, and a desire to work with the Wider Image team on long-term, in-depth stories

**Preferred**
- Experience working in hostile environments
- Experience working with multimedia elements
- Ability to speak Bengali
