**Job Title: Medical Receptionist**
**Job Overview**: As a Medical Receptionist, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients visiting a medical facility. Your role is crucial in providing excellent customer service, managing patient appointments, and ensuring the smooth operation of the front desk. You will be responsible for greeting patients, scheduling appointments, managing medical records, and handling administrative tasks in a professional and efficient manner.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Patient Interaction**:
- Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and welcoming manner.
- Assist patients with check-in and registration processes.
- Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries from patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
- **Appointment Scheduling**:
- Schedule patient appointments using electronic scheduling systems or appointment books.
- Coordinate appointments based on availability of physicians, patient preferences, and medical urgency.
- **Medical Records Management**:
- Maintain accurate patient records, including demographic information, insurance details, and medical history.
- Ensure that patient information is entered correctly into electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Handle requests for medical records and facilitate the transfer of records between healthcare providers as needed.
- **Insurance Verification**:
- Verify patients' insurance coverage and eligibility prior to appointments.
- Collect co-payments, deductibles, and other payments at the time of service.
- Assist patients with insurance-related inquiries and provide information on billing and payment options.
- **Administrative Support**:
- Assist with various administrative tasks such as filing, scanning, and organizing documents.
- Manage incoming and outgoing mail, including correspondence with patients and insurance companies.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the reception area.
- **Patient Communication**:
- Communicate test results, appointment changes, and other relevant information to patients as directed by healthcare providers.
- Handle patient inquiries and requests for prescription refills, referrals, or medical advice in accordance with established protocols.
- **Team Collaboration**:
- Collaborate with medical staff, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team to ensure efficient patient flow and continuity of care.
- Provide support to other administrative staff as needed.
**Skills and Qualifications**:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in medical office administration is a plus.
