Aladdin Financial Engineering Group (AFE):
AFE is a diverse and global team with a keen interest and expertise in all things related to technology and financial analytics. The group is responsible for the research and development of quantitative financial and behavioral models and tools across many different areas - single-security pricing, prepayment models, risk, return attribution, liquidity, optimization and portfolio construction, scenario analysis and simulations, etc. - and covering all asset classes. The group is also responsible for the technology platform that delivers those models to our internal partners and external clients, and their integration with Aladdin.

AFE conducts leading research on the areas above, delivering state-of-the-art models. AFE publishes applied scientific research frequently, and our members present regularly at leading industry conferences. AFE engages constantly with the sales team in client visits and meetings.

Job Purpose/Background:
Familiarity with following areas is essential:

- Understanding of traditional statistical / machine learning techniques for tabular data
- Understanding of traditional natural language processing solutions on unstructured financial datasets
- Understanding of RNN, LSTM, Transformer architectures
- Understanding of language models like BERT (encoder-only), GPT (decoder only) FLAN T5 (encoder-decoder) including both open source and close source LLMs
- Hands on experience with orchestration frameworks like LangChain, LlamaIndex
- Hands on experience with serving / inferencing frameworks like TGI, vLLM
- Hands on experience with MLOps/LLMOps services in any of the cloud providers (GCP/Azure/AWS)

Key Responsibilities:

- Serve as an expert in large language models and natural language processing for financial data.
- Collaborate with domain experts and modelers across teams to support the development of BlackRock’s Investment AI team’s models for clients.
- Support the internal validation process through benchmarking analysis, user engagement, and comprehensive model documentation.
- Additional responsibilities include working on synthetic data generation techniques, and other advanced methodologies.
- Keeping yourself updated with the latest advancements in Generative AI and suggest new/innovative solutions.

Skills & Qualifications:

- Bachelor or master’s level education with a focus on statistics, mathematics, engineering, climate science, or economics
- 3+ years of experience in building natural language processing solutions for challenging real world financial data.
- Project experience with the modern Transformer/Attention architecture for text summarization, vectorization, entity extraction and reasoning
- Experience with emerging LLM products from Open AI, Google, and other industry leaders.
- Experience in python & related framework/libraries needed for NLP/LLM’s, knowledge of algebraic modelling languages.
- Experience with advanced statistical modeling for outlier detection, estimation of missing data, generation of synthetic data.
- Experience in various modelling techniques such as balance sheet modeling, econometrics / statistical analysis, mathematical optimization, is desirable.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
