Core Responsibilities:

- **Operating and Monitoring Equipment**:STP operators manage and monitor various treatment processes, including pumps, aerators, chemical feeders, filters, and sludge digesters.
- **Routine Maintenance and Inspections**:They perform regular checks on plant equipment and facilities, ensuring optimal performance and identifying potential issues.
- **Sampling and Analysis**:STP operators collect and analyze wastewater samples, testing for parameters like pH, dissolved oxygen, and other indicators to ensure compliance with regulations.
- **Troubleshooting and Problem Solving**:They diagnose and resolve operational problems, coordinating with maintenance personnel as needed to address equipment malfunctions or process inefficiencies.
- **Record Keeping**:Maintaining accurate records of plant operations, including logs, reports, and compliance documentation, is crucial.
- **Safety and Compliance**:STP operators adhere to strict safety protocols, maintain a clean and organized work environment, and ensure compliance with all relevant environmental and safety regulations.

Specific Tasks:

- Adjusting treatment processes based on data analysis and operational needs.
- Performing tasks like skimming grease, pumping sludge, and transferring sludge to drying beds.
- Maintaining proper MLSS (Mixed Liquor Suspended Solids) levels.
- Reading and interpreting control panels and adjusting valves and gates.
- Coordinating with maintenance staff for repairs and upgrades.
- Participating in emergency response and on-call rotations.

Qualifications and Skills:

- **Experience**:Typically requires at least 1 year of experience in STP and/or WTP (Water Treatment Plant) operations, though some positions may be entry-level.
- **Knowledge**:A strong understanding of wastewater treatment processes, equipment, and relevant regulations is essential.
- **Skills**:Operators need to be able to analyze data, troubleshoot problems, perform physical tasks, and communicate effectively.
